NAGBUKEL, ILOCOS SUR — In a decisive step toward making primary healthcare universally accessible, the Municipal Local Government Unit of Nagbukel, through the Municipal Health Office (MHO), officially launched the PuroKalusugan Program across the municipality.

The initiative is designed to dismantle traditional barriers to healthcare access by bringing vital medical consultations, preventive health campaigns, and essential clinical services directly to the grass-roots level—reaching residents right in their respective barangays and puroks.

Strengthening Grassroots Healthcare

The PuroKalusugan Program serves as a cornerstone of Nagbukel’s local health reform. By shifting the focus of medical delivery from centralized clinics to localized community hubs, the program ensures that vulnerable sectors—such as senior citizens, pregnant women, and children—receive timely medical attention without the burden of long travel.

The Municipal Health Office emphasized that the program is not merely a one-time medical mission, but a sustainable primary healthcare framework. Key components of the launching include:

  • Preventive Health Education: Raising awareness on lifestyle disease prevention, maternal and child care, and seasonal infectious diseases.
  • Direct Medical Access: Bringing diagnostic, wellness, and basic treatment services closer to home.
  • Active Community Surveillance: Allowing local health workers to closely monitor the health status of residents within their specific puroks.

A Collaborative Community Effort

The successful rollout was made possible through the unified efforts of local administrative bodies and community leaders. The LGU of Nagbukel extended its deepest appreciation to the municipal officials, barangay captains, council members, dedicated Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), and active community volunteers whose logistical and administrative support ensured the event’s smooth execution.

“The health of our citizens is the foundation of our progress,” the LGU of Nagbukel shared in a statement. “Through PuroKalusugan, we are making sure that no Nagbukelian is left behind when it comes to quality, compassionate, and reliable healthcare.”

With the program now officially active, the Municipal Health Office and local leaders are set to implement a scheduled rotation of services across all barangays, securing a healthier, more resilient, and stronger future for the entire municipality of Nagbukel.
